Nomination Hearing for Trump’s AG Nominee Pam Bondi Scheduled for January 15–16
WASHINGTON—On January 9, the Senate Judiciary Committee announced that Pam Bondi, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general, will have her nomination hearing on January 15 and 16.
“Pam will redirect the DOJ to its original mission of fighting crime and ensuring America’s safety,” he stated. “I’ve known Pam for many years—she is intelligent, tough, and an AMERICA FIRST advocate who will excel as attorney general!”
Trump chose Bondi following the withdrawal of his initial candidate, former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who stepped down after recognizing he did not have sufficient support for confirmation.
“While the support was strong, it became apparent that my confirmation was becoming an unnecessary distraction from the vital efforts of the Trump/Vance Transition. We cannot afford a prolonged conflict in Washington, so I will withdraw my name from consideration for attorney general. Trump’s DOJ must be established and operational from Day 1.”
Nomination hearings for several other Trump appointees have also been slated.
