‘Offensive’ Dance Party Features Luigi Mangione with Hannah Montana Track | US News
A Disney-themed dance event has been labeled “disgusting” and “sick” following the display of images featuring murder suspect Luigi Mangione while the Hannah Montana song, He Could Be The One, played.
The DJ-driven party, held in Boston on Friday, was advertised as showcasing tunes from the Disney Channel.
Visuals of Mangione, who is charged with the fatal shooting of UnitedHealth Group executive Brian Thompson in New York this month, appeared on the screen.
The event sparked backlash on Facebook where the organizers shared a promotional video for upcoming shows.
The footage featured images of Luigi Mangione along with the announcement: “Disney Channel Night x Luigi coming to your city this holiday season!”
Audience members can be heard cheering as Hannah Montana’s song, performed by actress Miley Cyrus, played in the background.
At the conclusion of the track, the DJ further incited cheers by stating, “You gotta give the people what they want.”
Many viewers criticized the video as “disgusting” and “sick” on Facebook.
The Bop to the Top event appears to have no affiliations with Disney. Both the media conglomerate and the event organizers, as well as the venue, Big Night Live, have been contacted for comments.
Mangione, 26, is accused of murdering the head of an insurance company on December 4, and he was apprehended on December 9 following a manhunt.
While he was initially charged with murder, he now faces 11 charges, including a newly added accusation of murder as an act of terrorism.
