Official Portraits of Trump and Vance Unveiled Ahead of Inauguration Day

The public was introduced to the official portraits of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance this past Thursday.
An email from the Trump transition team revealed their “official portraits,” stating they “go hard.”
In his portrait, Trump is depicted wearing a blue suit and tie, one eyebrow raised and gazing straight ahead, his mouth closed. Vance presents a contrasting image, arms crossed, sporting a blue suit and tie, smiling while looking directly forward.
In anticipation of Trump’s swearing-in ceremony on January 20, Donald Trump Jr., the president-elect’s eldest son, and Republican supporters have circulated the official images.
The Trump portrait echoes a mugshot that was taken of him in Fulton County, Georgia, after being charged with election-related crimes by the district attorney’s office in 2023. The campaign capitalized on this mugshot, offering T-shirts, clocks, calendars, and other merchandise featuring the image.

During his 2024 presidential campaign, the president-elect utilized the mugshot on campaign materials and shared it on social media platform X, marking his first post there in several years.

The oath of office for Trump will be administered at 12 p.m. ET on January 20 by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, with former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton in attendance. Additionally, Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will participate alongside their husbands during the swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, as per the representatives.
“Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration,” stated a release from her office.
Michelle Obama was also absent at last week’s funeral service for President Jimmy Carter at the Washington National Cathedral, where her husband and Trump were seated next to each other and engaged in conversation. Among former vice presidents, only former Vice President Dick Cheney did not attend.
This week, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced that flags at the U.S. Capitol would be flown at full height on Inauguration Day, reversing a 30-day flag-lowering directive following Carter’s death. Trump has also advocated for flags to be raised to full height on social media.
“Nobody wants to see this,” Trump wrote on Truth Social recently, adding that “no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
