OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Rejects Allegations in Sister’s Sexual Abuse Lawsuit | US News
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has refuted allegations of sexual abuse that were brought forward by his sister.
Ann Altman’s lawyers have filed a lawsuit in the United States, claiming that he regularly sexually abused her from 1997 to 2006.
In a joint statement with his mother and two brothers, Mr. Altman, aged 39, stated: “All of these claims are completely false.”
The lawsuit, lodged in a Missouri court, includes accusations of sexual assault and sexual battery that allegedly started when Ms. Altman was only three years old and her brother was twelve.
It is claimed that the abuse continued into adulthood while his sister remained a minor at 30 years old.
Mr. Altman is a co-founder of OpenAI, alongside several prominent figures, including Elon Musk.
He has risen to prominence in the tech industry since the debut of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in 2022, with an estimated net worth exceeding $1 billion (£810 million), according to Forbes.
His sister’s lawsuit requests damages exceeding $75,000 (£60,700), punitive damages, and the reimbursement of legal expenses. It also seeks a jury trial.
The suit alleges that the purported abuse has led Ms. Altman to experience post-traumatic stress disorder, significant emotional distress, mental anguish, and depression.

Mr. Altman and his family have stated that they have endeavored to provide both financial and medical assistance to his sister.
“Supporting a family member with mental health struggles is incredibly challenging,” the family’s statement noted.
As of now, Ms. Altman’s legal representatives have not responded to her brother’s statement.
