Paris Hilton and CNN are among the accounts targeted in a recent cyber attack on TikTok | US News
TikTok has responded to a cyber attack aimed at various brand and celebrity accounts, including CNN.
A spokesperson for the company stated: “We have been working closely with CNN to regain access to their account and implement stronger security measures to protect their account in the future.”
TikTok mentioned that the number of compromised accounts is “very small” and they are assisting affected account owners in restoring access as needed.
A source at TikTok informed Reuters news agency that reality TV star Paris Hilton’s account was targeted but not compromised.
TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, is currently challenging a law requiring the sale of TikTok by January to avoid a US ban.
The White House has expressed a desire to eliminate Chinese ownership for national security reasons.

TikTok has asserted that it will not share US user data with the Chinese government and has implemented significant measures to safeguard user privacy.
The legal battle may argue that a ban would infringe on the First Amendment rights of TikTok’s 170 million US users to freedom of speech.
The law could face opposition from TikTok content creators who rely on the platform for income, while China has previously stated its opposition to a forced sale.

The use of TikTok by the federal government’s nearly four million employees on devices owned by its agencies is already banned in the US.
