Rakim Hasheem Allen, better known by his stage name PnB Rock, was shot and killed on Monday during a robbery at a Los Angeles restaurant, according to reports. He was 30.

The Philadelphia-born hip-hop star was shot around 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 12 while eating with his girlfriend at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles on Main Street and West Manchester Avenue, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Captain Kelly Muniz said during a press briefing, but she would not officially name the victim, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Law enforcement sources told the newspaper that the suspect brandished a gun inside the eatery and demanded items from the victim—reportedly his jewelry.

Almost immediately after a brief verbal exchange, the victim was shot multiple times and the suspect fled in a getaway car, according to Muniz.

“He shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot,” Muniz said, adding that the victim was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead at 1:59 p.m.

Investigators have not been able to take the suspect into custody, the police captain added. The LAPD is working to examine security video from inside the restaurant to identify the shooter.

In addition, security footage of surrounding businesses will also be reviewed to see whether information can be obtained about the suspect and the getaway car.

The Fillmore Philadelphia, a venue where the rapper performed one of his hometown’s last shows, put up a sign that reads “RIP PnB Rock” to remember the late singer.

PnB Rock was born on Dec. 9, 1991, in Philadelphia, and gained national fame in 2015. He released his most recent song just days before the shooting.

In a statement on Instagram, the famous eatery offered condolences, saying everyone at the company is deeply saddened by the death of PnB Rock.

“An incredible artist in Los Angeles and everywhere. His passing represents an enormous loss to each and every one of us,” the statement reads.

“Our most heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers go to the Allen family at this difficult time,” it added. “The safety of our employees and guests are our utmost priority. We have and will continue to keep our place of business as safe as possible.”

Many celebrities, including OFFSET and DJ Akademiks, posted tributes on social media, asking followers to pray for PnB Rock’s two children, while also urging each other to be more cautious about their whereabouts.

“Pray for PNB Rock … the man got family and kids smh—God be with the man,” OFFSET wrote on Twitter.

“I just did an interview with him a week ago where he detailed how someone tried to rob him in LA recently,” DJ Akademiks said in a post on social media. “Now.. this..”
