Potential Treasury Pick Pledges Budget Reductions in Collaboration with Musk
‘All of these tax subsidies for solar, for wind, inefficient, uneconomic energy sources. Eliminate that,’ billionaire John Paulson told The Wall Street Journal.
Billionaire John Paulson expressed his intention to collaborate with Elon Musk to decrease federal spending, particularly by reducing green energy subsidies, if chosen as Treasury Secretary in Trump’s administration.
Specifically targeting green energy subsidies in the Inflation Reduction Act, which he referred to as the “Green New Deal,” Paulson highlighted his alignment with Trump’s policies.
An ardent supporter and major donor to Trump’s campaigns, Paulson also serves as a trustee of the conservative Manhattan Institute, led by fellow Wall Street executive Paul Singer. Trump has identified Paulson as a potential choice for Treasury Secretary in the event of winning the 2024 election.
Paulson’s views echo Musk’s, who claimed he could cut at least $2 trillion from the federal budget.
