Prince Harry urges governments to collaborate with youth and praises award winners for continuing Princess Diana’s legacy.

Prince Harry has urged governments globally to actively involve young people in decision-making, as part of an event commemorating Princess Diana’s legacy.

The Duke of Sussex made this statement during a panel discussion organized by The Diana Award in New York to address the mental health crisis affecting young individuals.

During the discussion with two Diana Award recipients, Harry emphasized the importance of including young voices in policy-making processes at an early stage to prevent problems before they arise. He stated, “Bringing young people like yourselves into decision-making roles is crucial to finding solutions and making a lasting impact.”

This event marked Harry’s first public engagement since he turned 40.

He was accompanied by Dr. Tessy Ojo, the award’s chief executive, along with Diana Award winners Christina Williams, a youth advocate from Jamaica, and Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang from Indonesia.

The event launched a project focused on promoting youth wellbeing and encouraging young individuals to speak up about mental health issues.

Harry commended the winners for upholding his mother’s legacy Diana, expressing pride in their confidence, clear communication, and activism. He stated, “I am certain my mum would be immensely proud of your dedication, activism, and compassion, which mirror her values and beliefs.”
