Princess Eugenie Pays Tribute to ‘Dear Friend’ Michelle Trachtenberg | UK News

Princess Eugenie has shared a heartfelt message honoring Michelle Trachtenberg following the actress’s passing.

The star of Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 39, was found deceased at her residence in New York City on Wednesday.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into her death, but they stated that “criminality is not suspected.”

In an Instagram update today, Princess Eugenie expressed gratitude to Trachtenberg for “the countless memories.”

“Farewell, dear friend. You are profoundly loved and missed,” she wrote.

“Thank you for all the joyful and fun memories. You were incredibly thoughtful, generous, and so amusing.

“One of my favorite moments was listening to you order food, executed with such precision to ensure we received exactly what we all desired.

“Thinking of you up there, friend, with your vibrant spirit and the joy you spread to so many.”

Eugenie previously resided in New York and was spotted attending a basketball game at Madison Square Garden with Trachtenberg in 2013.

The actress frequently shared posts on social media featuring the princess throughout the years.

In 2020, she called her “one of the dearest, kindest, most genuine friends I have ever had in my life” and four years earlier wrote: “There are few souls in life you encounter that you recognize as truly real. This lady is one of them.”

Trachtenberg was notably recognized for her role as Dawn Summers in Buffy, the younger sister of the main character played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, and as Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl.

Gellar honored her co-star by posting a series of photos alongside a caption referencing a scene from the iconic show.

“Michelle, listen to me. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world, is to exist in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you,” she expressed.

James Marsters, who portrayed the punk vampire Spike, took to Instagram to express: “My heart feels heavy today. We’ve lost a beautiful soul.

“Michelle was incredibly intelligent, outrageously funny, and immensely talented. She passed away much too soon, leaving behind many who cherished her.”

Many of Trachtenberg’s Gossip Girl co-stars also shared their condolences on social media, including Blake Lively—who played Serena van der Woodsen—writing on Instagram: “Everything she did, she did with 200% effort.”

Lively added: “She laughed wholeheartedly at someone’s joke, confronted authority when she sensed wrongdoing, deeply cared about her craft, took pride in being part of this community and industry, despite its challenges; she was fiercely loyal to her friends and bravely stood up for those she loved. She was bold, extraordinary, and unapologetically herself.”

Taylor Momsen, who played Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl, remarked: “I will miss you every day, my love.”

“I’ll miss our late-night conversations that were meant only for us,” she wrote. “You were always in my corner, supporting me whether I was right or wrong.

“We shared a mutual understanding, and I feel so fortunate to have had a friend like you in my life for so long.”

“Michelle was truly one of a kind,” shared fellow Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford. “I’ll never forget her first day on set, where she completely owned the scene.

“She was a force of nature, unapologetically funny and magnetic. Those memories bring a smile to my face. This is a devastating loss. Love you.”

“Rest in peace, sweet Michelle,” Kim Cattrall added alongside a photo of them together from the film Ice Princess, released in 2005.

Kate Beckinsale expressed: “What a shocking and terrible loss; my heart aches for your mother. Fly safely, little bird.”

Trachtenberg’s latest film project was last year’s Spyral, where she portrayed Michelle Cody White.

The authorities confirmed an investigation into her death is underway, though “criminality is not suspected.”
