Private Jets Collide at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona, Resulting in One Fatality, Authorities Report

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—A tragic incident occurred at the Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday afternoon, resulting in one fatality and several injuries when a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil collided with another jet, according to authorities.

Neil’s aircraft, which was landing, went off the runway and struck a parked jet, as stated by Neil’s representative, Worrick Robinson, IV. There were four individuals on board Neil’s plane, including two pilots and two passengers, but Neil himself was not present.

“Mr. Neil extends his thoughts and prayers to everyone involved and is thankful for the critical assistance of all first responders on the scene,” Robinson expressed in a statement.

As reported by Kelli Kuester, the aviation planning and outreach coordinator at the Scottsdale Airport, the arriving jet drifted off the runway and hit a stationary Gulfstream 200 jet. It appeared that the main landing gear of the arriving aircraft failed, which led to the incident.

Kuester noted that the jet, arriving from Austin, Texas, had four occupants, while one person was in the stationary aircraft.

Scottsdale Fire Department Capt. Dave Folio reported that two injured individuals were transported to trauma centers, with one person in stable condition at a local hospital. Recovery efforts for the deceased are ongoing.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this incident,” Folio remarked.

The runway has been closed and will remain unavailable “for the foreseeable future,” according to Kuester.

Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky stated that she is closely monitoring the situation while coordinating with airport officials, police, and federal agencies.

“On behalf of the city of Scottsdale, we extend our deepest condolences to those impacted by the accident, and to those receiving treatment at our trauma center,” she expressed. “All parties affected by this tragedy will be in our prayers.”

The airport is a key hub for private jets traveling to and from the Phoenix area, particularly during significant sporting events like the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament, which draws large crowds in the vicinity.

This incident follows a series of severe aviation accidents in the U.S. over the past fortnight. Notably, a commercial airliner and an Army helicopter collided near Washington, D.C., on January 29, resulting in 67 fatalities. A medical transport plane crashed in Philadelphia on January 31, claiming the lives of all six aboard as well as one individual on the ground. Additionally, a small commuter plane crashed in western Alaska last week while en route to Nome, with all 10 individuals on board losing their lives.
