Prosecutors Support Lighter Sentence for ‘Serial’ Defendant Syed

Baltimore prosecutors announced on Monday that they have submitted a motion advocating for a lighter sentence for Adnan Syed, the focus of the popular true crime podcast “Serial.” His 1999 murder conviction was overturned but subsequently reinstated by the state’s Supreme Court.
