Protests Against ICE Deportations Take Place Across California on Presidents Day
A collective known as 50501 stated that the demonstrations were a reaction to what it views as illegal and anti-democratic actions taken by the federal government.
On Presidents Day, February 17, protesters convened throughout California to voice their dissent against the current administration and its immigration policies, which have resulted in deportations.
The events, titled “Not My Presidents Day” and “No Kings on Presidents Day,” were organized by the 50501 movement—a group focused on orchestrating protests against the Trump administration in all 50 states. The name signifies “50 protests, 50 states, one movement.”
Protests took place in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, and various other cities across California.

The 50501 organization claimed that the protests were in response to perceived anti-democratic and unlawful actions taken by the federal government.
Additional rallies are scheduled, including a protest on February 28 that aims to urge retailers to maintain their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
“Americans deserve a government that is committed to treating every individual with equal dignity and respect, using taxpayer resources judiciously to enhance America’s greatness,” the order from January 20 declares.
The Epoch Times reached out to the White House for a statement but had not received a reply by the time of publication.
