Rashee Rice, wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, issues apology for involvement in car accident causing injuries to four individuals | US News
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has stated that he is accepting “full responsibility” for his role in a car accident that resulted in minor injuries for four individuals.
Over the weekend, two cars were involved in a multi-vehicle crash on a Dallas highway, resulting in six vehicles being affected.
The 23-year-old NFL player was leasing a Lamborghini SUV that was reportedly speeding along with a Corvette when the collision occurred on North Central Expressway.
According to the police, the occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette left the scene without providing any information or checking on the well-being of others involved.
Taking to social media today, Mr. Rice expressed, “Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident.
“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to co-operate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted by Saturday’s accident.”
Dallas police spokesperson Kristin Lowman informed NBC News that investigators have spoken with Rice and his legal representatives. The investigation is still ongoing, with witnesses and victims still being interviewed, she added.
Earlier this week, a lawyer for Mr. Rice mentioned that he was cooperating with the authorities without providing further details.
His team, the Chiefs, acknowledged the incident but refrained from commenting further.
Kyle Coker, an attorney for The Classic Lifestyle, a Dallas-based exotic car rental company, revealed that Rice was leasing the Lamborghini.
Under the lease agreement, Rice was the only authorized driver of the vehicle, which rents for approximately $1,750 (£1,400) per day and is valued at around $250,000 (£197,000).

Mr. Rice’s attorney, state senator Royce West, assured that his client “will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly”.
Mr. West has not responded to inquiries on Tuesday and has not confirmed whether Mr. Rice was driving one of the vehicles.
