Realtor.com Moves Its Headquarters from California to Texas
A well-known online real estate services firm is following in the footsteps of numerous California firms relocating to Texas.
announced on February 6 that it will transfer its headquarters from Santa Clara, California, to Austin, Texas.
In a statement sent to The Epoch Times on February 7, a Realtor.com spokesperson remarked, “Realtor.com has been an integral part of the Austin community since 2019, and with this announcement, we are officially designating that location as our headquarters.”
“Austin and Texas provide a robust and expanding talent pool, a booming economy with unmatched housing development, a cost of living that is only rivalled by its desirable lifestyle, extensive technology and academic sectors, and a lively city at the core of the flourishing state of Texas. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to establish our home,” stated Damian Eales, CEO of Realtor.com, in the announcement.
In recent years, Realtor.com has been dedicated to investing in and nurturing the Austin community via an internship program aimed at building new talent. Now, with the headquarters shift, the company plans to ramp up local hiring soon.
“We are delighted to operate in a state that recognizes the vital role business plays in creating opportunities for personal development, professional success, and community progress. Our commitment to Austin represents a significant step towards achieving The American Dream,” commented Robert Thomson, CEO of News Corp.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott expressed pride in welcoming Realtor.com’s new headquarters and robust housing market.
“Thanks to our exceptional business climate, the absence of corporate or personal income taxes, and our skilled and youthful workforce, Texas is the ideal destination for Realtor.com,” he stated in the announcement.
The three gentlemen commemorated the announcement with a dinner at the Governor’s Mansion on January 29.

The report identifies the primary reasons people are moving to Texas as ample job opportunities, affordable housing, and a different climate. Additionally, the state ranks first for housing unit permits, constructing more affordable housing than any other state.
From 2009 to 2023, California, Florida, and Oklahoma were the top three states from which residents migrated to Texas. Other states in the top 10 included New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Alabama, New York, and South Carolina.
