Reese Witherspoon announces Legally Blonde prequel starring Elle Woods in the ’90s | Entertainment News
If you understand the importance of perm maintenance and scented resumes, you’ll be thrilled to hear about Reese Witherspoon’s latest announcement.
The Hollywood actress has revealed plans for a prequel series to her popular 2001 movie, Legally Blonde, set to premiere in 2025.
In a bold hot pink suit and pale pink stilettos (because orange is definitely not the new pink), Witherspoon shared the exciting news on her social media platforms.
The upcoming TV series will explore the character of Elle Woods as a high school girl in the 1990s, before the events of the original Legally Blonde film and its sequel in 2003.
In a video posted on Instagram, Witherspoon is seen getting ready and applying pink lipstick while showcasing a “top secret” scented script for an Amazon Prime Video presentation to advertisers, set to the tune of Perfect Day, a song from the film.
“Before she became the famous Harvard Law graduate, she was just your average ’90s high school girl,” Witherspoon wrote. “And you’ll all get to meet her next year on @primevideo. I’M SO EXCITED!”
Witherspoon will take on the role of executive producer for the Prime Video series, which will be titled Elle.

Legally Blonde followed the journey of sorority girl Elle Woods as she surprised everyone around her by gaining admission to Harvard Law School, all in pursuit of a boyfriend who had broken up with her.
Throughout her studies, she proved herself to be a capable lawyer, winning murder trials and showcasing her skills.
The production of Elle will be handled by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine company, now part of Candle Media, known for previous shows like Daisy Jones And The Six.
Details on casting for the series are still under wraps.
