Rep. Scott Perry Holds onto Seat, Defeating Democratic Opponent to Secure Reelection

The Republican congressman, Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), has pledged to assist President-elect Donald Trump in advancing his second-term agenda.

Perry narrowly defeated his Democratic opponent in Pennsylvania, where Republicans gained seats in districts with a slight Democratic registration advantage.

Perry, a former chair of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, won against Janelle Stelson, a Republican-turned-Democrat and longtime local news anchor.

Following his victory, Stelson conceded to Perry and congratulated him, expressing hope that he would serve all Central Pennsylvanians regardless of their political leanings.

Perry, a six-term congressman, represents Pennsylvania’s 10th District, including the state capital, Dauphin County, and parts of Cumberland and York Counties.

Excited to support President Trump’s America First agenda, Perry expressed his commitment to the cause after his win was projected by The Associated Press.

Perry’s victory, along with the defeat of Rep. Matt Cartwright and Rep. Susan Wild, brings the GOP closer to a House majority.

Perry campaigned on key issues like inflation, the border crisis, healthcare reform, and women’s sports. He has been a strong supporter of Trump and is known for his efforts on human rights issues in China.

One of Perry’s notable initiatives is the Falun Gong Protection Act, aimed at combating forced organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party.

Among other actions, the Act proposes significant civil and criminal penalties for individuals engaged in such illicit activities. The legislation passed in the House in June and awaits Senate consideration.

Furthermore, as Pennsylvania continues to count votes in the aftermath of the election, there are still approximately 100,000 ballots yet to be processed. Republican candidate David McCormick was named the winner of a Senate seat, contested by Democratic incumbent Bob Casey, who has not conceded.

With Republicans securing the Senate and claiming 211 House seats, they are only seven seats away from a majority in the 435-seat chamber, which would greatly benefit Trump in advancing his policy objectives.
