Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claims a worm consumed part of his brain before perishing | US News

Independent US presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr has claimed that a worm once entered his brain and consumed part of it before dying.

The 70-year-old made this revelation during a 2012 deposition in his divorce proceedings from his second wife Mary Richardson Kennedy.

He mentioned that his cognitive abilities had been affected, leading to memory loss and mental fogginess, resulting in decreased earning power.

After consulting neurologists due to concerns about a dark spot on his brain scans, he was initially diagnosed with a tumor. However, another doctor believed it was a dead parasite in his brain, as reported by The New York Times.

Mr Kennedy stated that the doctor believed the abnormality was caused by a worm entering his brain and consuming a portion of it before dying.

Additionally, Mr Kennedy disclosed that he had been diagnosed with mercury poisoning, which he believes was due to his consumption of tuna, a fish known for its higher mercury content compared to others.

Despite his cognitive issues and memory loss, Mr Kennedy stated that he made changes to his diet and lifestyle after the health scares, leading to a full recovery without lasting effects from the parasite.

While some experts warn of potential permanent brain damage from parasitic infections and mercury poisoning, others suggest that recovery is possible with temporary symptoms.

Although Mr Kennedy did not specify the type of parasite, experts believe it might have been a pork tapeworm larva based on his description.

In response to concerns about his fitness for the presidency, a spokesperson for the Kennedy campaign dismissed them as humorous, given the competition.

Mr Kennedy, alongside other third-party candidates, is running against the incumbent Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential race.

In the national polls, Mr Kennedy is currently polling around 10%, trailing behind both Mr Trump and Mr Biden.
