Rudy Giuliani held responsible for false accusations against election workers, ordered to pay $148m | US News

Rudy Giuliani has been instructed to pay a total of $148m for defaming two former Georgia election workers.

The ex-attorney for Donald Trump falsely accused them of assisting in rigging the 2020 US presidential election.

The jury’s sole task in the trial was to determine how much the one-time New York mayor should pay Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother Ruby Freeman, to compensate them for the reputational and emotional harm they suffered and to punish Giuliani for his conduct.

He has said he will “certainly appeal” the verdict.
