Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs denied bail again amid sex trafficking accusations | Entertainment & Arts Update
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been denied bail for a second time as he faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking, drug possession, and firearms offenses.
US district judge Andrew L Carter stated that the government had presented clear and convincing evidence that no conditions would ensure the safety of the community and prevent tampering with witnesses by the rapper and music mogul.
The 54-year-old pleaded not guilty after his initial arrest at the Park Hyatt hotel in Manhattan, New York, on Monday.
Following an initial court appearance on Tuesday where he pleaded not guilty to three felony counts, Combs was denied bail and informed that he would be detained. His lawyers later requested that he be allowed to await his trial at his luxury home on an island near Miami Beach instead of in jail in Brooklyn.
An indictment released after Combs‘s arrest detailed allegations dating back to 2008, accusing him of manipulating, threatening, and pressuring women for years to satisfy his sexual desires and maintain his reputation.
He allegedly coerced female victims and male sex workers into drug-fuelled sexual performances, known as “Freak Offs,” according to the report.
Combs, formerly known as Puff Daddy and P Diddy, was a prominent figure in hip-hop, famous for producing and managing the late Notorious BIG, as well as his own hits such as I’ll Be Missing You, Come With Me, and Bad Boy For Life.
In November, his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, filed a lawsuit accusing him of pressuring her and others into unwanted sexual acts in drug-infused settings.
The lawsuit was resolved in a day, but CNN later aired hotel security footage showing Combs physically assaulting Cassie. He apologized after the video aired, expressing disgust for his actions.
