Secret Service states that suspect in alleged assassination attempt against Trump did not discharge firearm
The Secret Service has confirmed that the suspect in an alleged assassination attempt against former US president Donald Trump did not discharge his weapon.
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, has been charged with federal gun offenses after he was apprehended on Sunday following the incident at a golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Mr Trump was present.
According to authorities, Routh was seen by a Secret Service agent assigned to the security detail of the former president, who fired at the suspect.
After fleeing the scene, Routh was eventually captured by law enforcement in a nearby county.
