‘Self-Proclaimed Michael Myers’ Serial Killer Sentenced to 261 Years in Prison | US News

A man who has proclaimed himself a “serial killer” and compared himself to the fictional character Michael Myers from Halloween has received an additional 159 years in prison.

Joshua Dotson, aged 24, admitted to the first-degree murders of three individuals in Tennessee between 2019 and 2020.

He was previously convicted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Jamesha Covson and her unborn child, resulting in a 102-year sentence, as stated by prosecutors in Shelby County.

Jamesha Covson, who was 19 and several months pregnant, was shot through her door during a break-in by Dotson in June 2020.

Reports indicate that Dotson initially fled but then returned to the scene and shot Ms. Covson multiple times.

“After five years, we are relieved to finally achieve justice for Dotson’s various victims,” said Regina Lucreziano, assistant district attorney in Shelby County.

“His total sentences from the trial verdict and these two pleas add up to 261 years behind bars.

“Although no prison time can compensate for the loss of the victims, we are satisfied that he will pose no further threat to our community.”

During the trial for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Dotson took the stand in his defense, identifying himself as a “serial killer”.

He also made comparisons to the infamous movie character Michael Myers.
