Serbian CrossFit athlete Lazar Dukic tragically passes away during Texas lake swimming competition | US News


A tragic incident occurred during a swimming event at the CrossFit Games, resulting in the death of competitor Lazar Dukic. The event took place at Marine Creek Lake in Fort Worth, Texas, where Dukic disappeared beneath the water.

Emergency services were alerted around 8am local time after it was reported that a participant had gone missing in the water.

Search efforts were immediately launched with a dive team and drones, leading to the discovery of Dukic’s body approximately an hour after the initial search began. As a result of the tragedy, the remaining events scheduled for the day were cancelled.

CrossFit’s CEO, Don Faul, expressed deep sorrow over the incident during a news briefing and assured that the organizers are cooperating with authorities for the investigation. Faul emphasized their commitment to supporting the affected family and community during this difficult time.

It was confirmed that safety personnel were present on-site during the swim event.
