Spain investigates Katy Perry’s video for allegedly filming on beach without authorization
Katy Perry’s latest video is under investigation in Spain due to unauthorized filming at protected sand dunes in the Balearic Islands.
The video, titled Lifetimes, features the star on the beaches of Formentera, on a boat in the sea, and partying in clubs in nearby Ibiza.
The Spanish government stated that the production company behind the video may have violated regulations on the uninhabited islet of S’Espalmador at the most northern point of Formentera.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Natural Environment of Spain is conducting a preliminary investigation into the alleged breach and clarified that it may not be considered an environmental crime if permission was obtained.
Perry has not addressed the investigation.
S’Espalmador, a privately owned island within the Ses Salines natural park, is known for its ecological diversity, including natural mud flats and salt plains, according to local tourism sources.
Perry, known for hits like Roar, Firework, and I Kissed A Girl, is set to release her seventh album 143 in September.
The lead single, Woman’s World, and its video received criticism from critics, resulting in the song charting outside the Top 40 in the UK.
Perry is engaged to actor Orlando Bloom, and they have a three-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
Sky News has reached out to representatives of the singer and the production company behind the Lifetimes video for comments on the Spanish investigation.
