Super Bowl Performer Detained for Displaying Gaza and Sudan Flags During Halftime Show | US News

A performer during the Super Bowl’s half-time show has been taken into custody for displaying Palestinian and Sudanese flags.

As Kendrick Lamar entertained the audience, the dancer positioned on a vehicle raised the flags, which featured the words “Sudan” and “Gaza”.

The NFL confirmed that the dancer was among the 400 performers taking part in the half-time show.

“The individual concealed the flags on their person and revealed them towards the end of the performance,” they stated.

“No one associated with the production was made aware of the individual’s intentions.”

The New Orleans Police Department stated that authorities are “working to determine the appropriate charges in this situation”.

A significant portion of Gaza was devastated during Israel’s 18-month conflict with Hamas following the group’s deadly attack on October 7, while Sudan has been engulfed in civil war since 2023.

The entertainment company responsible for the half-time show, Roc Nation, stated that the act “was not planned, was not part of the production, and was never included in any rehearsals.”

The performance continued as scheduled without any interruptions.

It appeared that the individual was not featured during the broadcast of Lamar’s performance.

The Super Bowl, considered America’s premier sports event of the year, saw the Philadelphia Eagles triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, preventing the Chiefs from claiming a remarkable third consecutive championship.

Donald Trump made headlines by becoming the first sitting US president to attend the event.

Notable figures such as Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Sir Paul McCartney, and Bradley Cooper were also present to witness the spectacle.
