Taylor Swift Achieves Year’s Biggest Book Launch, But Fans Notice Several Mistakes | Entertainment & Arts News



Taylor Swift has achieved the largest book launch of the year with her official Era’s Tour book, but fans quickly pointed out a number of mistakes.

A staggering 814,000 copies were sold in the US over the Thanksgiving weekend, as reported by Circana, which monitors the print market.

This impressive sales figure occurred despite Swift limiting sales to the American supermarket chain Target, leaving out Amazon and other retailers, and opting not to work with a traditional publishing house.

Swift announced the book on social media, coinciding with the conclusion of the massive Eras Tour set to end on December 8.

Spanning 152 dates across five continents, the tour has generated over $1 billion (£785 million), making it the highest-grossing tour in history, according to data from Pollstar in 2023.

The ‘errors book’?

However, keen-eyed Swifties were left feeling let down when they discovered that the $40 (£31) book contained numerous errors, such as spelling mistakes and blurry images.

One fan shared on TikTok how she was “blown away” by the “number of grammatical errors” she encountered while flipping through the book, which she had lined up at 5 am to purchase.

“I noticed so many [errors] that I am genuinely questioning if this book was even edited,” she remarked.

“When I read, distracting grammar mistakes or awkward sentence structures really disrupt the reading experience for me.”

Others on X have dubbed it the “errors book,” with one video showing the book printed upside down and backward.

Another user noted eight typos, including misspelled song titles and missing punctuation.

Despite the errors, one fan suggested that these misprints might actually increase the book’s “value,” while another mentioned they preferred “a few cute errors” if it meant Swift had complete control over the publishing process.

Representatives for Target and Swift have not responded to the Associated Press’ request for comments.

The book’s sales made it the second-largest nonfiction book launch in the US, following the first volume of Barack Obama’s presidential memoirs, A Promised Land, which sold 816,000 copies in its debut week in 2020, as reported by Circana.

Circana notes that Obama’s memoir was available through all major retailers, and their tracking for the Eras Tour Book only accounts for its first weekend sales.
