Technical issues cause interruptions during Donald Trump’s conversation with Elon Musk, leaving many users unable to access.
An interview between Donald Trump and Elon Musk on the billionaire entrepreneur’s social media platform X encountered technical issues, with some users experiencing difficulty accessing the live stream.
Shortly after the scheduled start time of 8pm Eastern Time (1am UK time), some users received a “not available” message on the site, although over 115,000 people were able to join successfully.
Musk addressed the issue on Twitter, stating: “There appears to be a massive DDOS attack on X. Working on shutting it down. Worst case, we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later.”
A DDOS attack is a tactic used to take a website, computer, or online service offline by overwhelming it with numerous requests, thereby incapacitating it from responding to legitimate requests.
In the minutes leading up to the event, Musk clarified that he and Trump were having a conversation, not an interview, explaining: “Nobody is quite themselves in an interview, so it’s hard to understand what they’re really like.”
The former US president, whose account on X (formerly Twitter) was suspended in 2021 following the US Capitol storming, reactivated his account in anticipation of the event, making several posts.
