The GOP Presidential Contenders: Can Anyone Rival Trump?
As the 2024 election nears, Republicans are turning their attention to the evergrowing list of candidates vying to be on the GOP presidential ticket and seeing whether or not they can measure up to former President Donald Trump. This episode examines the candidates, with the most notable matchup between Florida Gov. DeSantis and Donald Trump. Voters wonder if DeSantis can do in D.C. what he has done in Florida. Would he have the same enthusiasm and capability as Trump amid the Washington swamp?
On the other hand, the governor doesn’t carry the same kind of baggage as Trump, and he’s not bogged down in lawsuits and indictments. Although some polls show Biden and Trump to be closely matched, Trump has a double-digit lead over his GOP competitors in nearly every other state. For any presidential hopeful, winning the confidence of Republican voters will be the first challenge in winning over the nation.
