TikTok singer Cat Janice, known for dedicating final song to son, passes away at 31 | Entertainment & Arts Update
Cat Janice, a musician who gained popularity on TikTok by dedicating her final song to her young son, has passed away at the age of 31 after battling sarcoma cancer.
Her family announced her passing on Instagram, revealing that she peacefully passed away in her childhood home on Wednesday morning.
“We are incredibly grateful for the immense love Catherine and our family have received in recent months,” they expressed their gratitude.
“Cat’s music reached unexpected heights and she rests in peace knowing that she will continue to support her son through her music. None of this would have been possible without all of you. Thank you.”
Earlier this year, Janice shared a preview of her song Dance You Outta My Head, acknowledging that her “cancer had triumphed” and that all proceeds from the song would go towards her seven-year-old son.
Since its release on January 19, the song has topped the TikTok Billboard Top 50 and entered the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Janice was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare type of cancer, in her scalene muscle in 2022, and kept her fans updated on her condition through social media posts.
She announced in July 2022 from her hospital bed that she was cancer-free, only to find out later in the year that it had returned and spread to her lungs.
Sharing online, the singer revealed how her tumors had unexpectedly tripled in size almost overnight, and by January, she was in hospice care at home.

Her final social media post was a duet video, reacting to a cover of her song Dance You Outta My Head by singer Sarah Cothran. In the video, she expressed her struggles and hopes for the future.
“The past few weeks have been so hard for me,” she shared. “I’m unable to walk, trapped in my body. It’s been emotionally the most difficult thing I’ve had to go through. But this beautiful cover reminded me of the significance of this song.”
She concluded by expressing her belief in a future beyond this life, thanking Sarah and hoping to see her fans there one day.
The family mentioned that Janice expressed her desire to share more art, which will be unveiled “in the right time.” Her brother Cubby will oversee her social media accounts and manage all aspects related to her music, merchandise, and public image.
In a tribute on his own Instagram, he reflected on their bond and her impact on his life.
“It’s daunting to navigate life without her. Without my guiding light. My source of motivation. My goal setter,” he wrote.
“She always pushed me to do better. Every time I presented her a song, she would critique it thoroughly to turn it into a piece of art I could be proud of. I’ll forever be grateful for our sibling dynamic.”
