Tragic accident: Infant dies after mother accidentally places her in oven, US News reports
A US prosecutor has stated that a baby died after her mother mistakenly put her down for a nap in the oven. Mariah Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Police responded to a report of an infant not breathing on Friday afternoon and found the child with apparent burns. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a probable cause statement, a witness told responders that the mother “put the child down for a nap and accidentally placed her in the oven instead of the crib.” It did not explain how that mistake was made.
