Trump Announces Task Force for 250th Anniversary of Independence Day Celebration
The president has announced an “entire year of celebrations nationwide” for 2026.
President Donald Trump is preparing an executive order that outlines his administration’s strategy for America’s 250th Independence Day celebration next year.
A fact sheet from the White House, obtained by The Epoch Times, indicates that Trump plans to sign an order that will encompass the national Independence Day celebrations on July 4, 2026, alongside broader initiatives aimed at enhancing national pride.
The initiative includes the formation of a task force, named “Task Force 250,” which will work to align the efforts of federal agencies.
“Task Force 250 will build upon the legacy of the U.S. Bicentennial Celebration 50 years ago, which aimed to renew our founding ideals following a time of national turmoil and division,” as stated in the White House fact sheet.
Furthermore, Trump’s new order will restore other directives that were initially issued in the summer of 2020 aimed at safeguarding and restoring statues and monuments that were damaged by vandals during periods of racial and civil unrest throughout the country.
Many of the vandalized monuments in 2020 were those honoring leaders of the Confederacy from the Civil War, though others included monuments to Christopher Columbus and several of America’s Founding Fathers, alongside leaders from the Union during the Civil War, like Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant, as well as the National World War II Memorial.
He further declared that his administration “will not permit violent mobs, incited by radical elements, to dictate which aspects of our history can be celebrated in public spaces.”
The White House announced that the proposed National Garden of American Heroes will feature statues of various figures whose monuments were destroyed or dismantled and not replaced.
The Epoch Times reached out for a list of historical figures intended to be honored within the statue park project but did not receive a reply by the time of publication.
