Trump Appoints Ex-Space Force Commander as Undersecretary of the Air Force
Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, a former commander in the Space Force, has been nominated as the undersecretary of the Air Force in the upcoming Trump administration.
President-elect Donald Trump has put forth the nomination of Matthew Lohmeier, a former Space Force commander, for the position of undersecretary of the Air Force.
“Matt is a former fighter pilot and Space Force Squadron Commander who has dedicated his life to serving our Great Nation,” Trump mentioned in a post on Truth Social on January 17.
“They expressed excitement about the prospect of refocusing on warfighting without the distractions of political and racial discussions and activist agendas,” Lohmeier conveyed to the outlet on November 17.
In announcing Lohmeier’s nomination for the undersecretary of the Air Force, Trump indicated his enthusiasm for Lohmeier collaborating with Hegseth, who shares a critical stance on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and other progressive policies within the military.
“Matthew will partner with the EXCELLENT Secretary of Defense Nominee, Pete Hegseth, to eradicate the damaging ‘woke’ policies that have harmed our Military and restore our Nation’s strength,” Trump declared.
“I appreciate your confidence in me, and I am eager to continue serving our brave men and women in uniform,” he stated. “To all those who wish to serve your country in uniform, we invite you to join us now! We need the finest, most capable individuals at this crucial moment in our nation’s history.”
“It is not partisan to highlight Marxist ideology where it exists or to discuss critical race theory; we should collectively oppose these ideas,” he remarked at that time.
“We will maintain a stance of patriotic apolitical engagement and be firmly constitutional,” he explained, noting that both he and Trump aim for “a Pentagon focused on effectiveness, meritocracy, warfighting, accountability, and readiness.”
