Trump Appoints Former Consultant to Head Environmental Advisory Task Force

Ed Russo is the writer of a book called ‘Donald J. Trump, An Environmental Hero,’ which was released in 2016.

On Friday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that he has chosen Ed Russo, a former environmental consultant, to head an environmental advisory task force that will be established in his upcoming administration.

Trump mentioned that the task force would provide guidance to his administration “on initiatives aimed at creating great jobs and safeguarding our natural resources” in line with his “commitment to clean air and clean water.”

Russo, described by the president-elect as an “environmental expert,” will lead the group.

“Together, we will achieve American Energy DOMINANCE, revive our Economy, and DRILL, BABY, DRILL,” Trump declared on his Truth Social platform.

Previously, Russo has worked as an environmental consultant for the Trump Organization. He also wrote a book titled “Donald J. Trump, An Environmental Hero,” published in 2016, documenting his experience as an environmental adviser to Trump.

As per a 2017 press release, Russo was a candidate for senior roles in Trump’s previous administration but decided “to remain in the private sector.” That same year, he founded a consulting firm named ER Advisors LLC, which provides guidance to environmental organizations and major corporations on new environmental policies.

In addition, Russo co-founded RussKap Water, a company based in North Miami Beach that focuses on producing atmospheric water generation. He also previously served as CEO of WaterGen USA and led the Florida Keys Environmental Coalition.

His career in the environmental field began by advocating against polluting landfills in New Jersey and managing projects under the Federal Superfund Program, as noted on the website.

In September 2019, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Russo to the state’s Board of Pilot Commissioners for a four-year term. The governor’s office indicated that Russo was also a member of the Monroe County Climate Change Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for Reef Relief.

According to the statement, he was acknowledged for his expertise “in the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of industrial water re-use, reclamation, and recycling equipment and facilities.”
Additionally, on Friday, Trump announced Bill Briggs as the new deputy administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Briggs is set to collaborate with Kelly Loeffler, whom Trump has nominated as the agency’s administrator, once their appointments are confirmed.

The president-elect mentioned that Briggs served as an acting associate administrator in the Office of Capital Access at the SBA during his first term.

“During his time, Bill helped oversee our Historic Paycheck Protection Program that saved countless Small Businesses and millions of jobs,” Trump remarked in a separate post.
