Trump Appoints Sean Curran as Head of the US Secret Service
President Donald Trump lauded Curran’s courage for putting his life on the line to protect him during the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, last year.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced Sean Curran’s appointment as the new director of the United States Secret Service.
“Sean has proven himself to be an exceptional leader, fully capable of directing and managing operational security plans for some of the most challenging Special Security Events in our nation’s history and the world,” Trump remarked.
“He demonstrated his fearless bravery by risking his life to save mine from an assassin’s bullet,” Trump expressed, emphasizing his valor.
Curran will succeed Ronald Rowe, who has served as acting director since Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation on July 23, 2024. Cheatle faced backlash for the agency’s management of the assassination attempt in Butler.
“This report outlined deficiencies in established command and control, communication failures, and a lack of diligence among agency personnel. The U.S. Secret Service’s Office of Integrity is currently examining the findings, and an accountability process is underway,” the statement noted.
Additional Appointments
Alongside Curran’s appointment, Trump also revealed two other important nominations on the same day.
Trump further nominated L. Brent Bozell III, founder and president of the Media Research Center, to serve as the new CEO of the United States Agency for Global Media.
