Trump Appoints ‘The Apprentice’ Producer as Special Envoy to the UK
Trump stated, “Burnett will strive to strengthen diplomatic relations by concentrating on shared interests such as trade … and cultural exchanges.”
Mark Burnett, an award-winning British television producer, has been appointed by President-elect Donald Trump to the position of U.S. Special Envoy to the United Kingdom in the forthcoming Trump administration.
“Mark, with his exceptional track record in television and business, offers a distinctive combination of diplomatic insight and global acclaim for this vital role,” said Trump in a recent post on Truth Social regarding the producer he collaborated with on “The Apprentice,” which premiered on NBC in 2004. Trump’s association with NBC ended in 2015 when he began his initial presidential campaign.
The United Kingdom has historically maintained a “special relationship” with the United States and is regarded as one of Washington’s closest allies globally.
Burnett is anticipated to join Trump’s nominee for U.S. ambassador to the UK, billionaire investment banker Warren Stephens, in London once Stephens receives Senate confirmation.
Burnett, a recipient of 13 Emmy Awards, is also known for creating highly-rated television shows such as “Survivor,” “Shark Tank,” and “The Voice.”
His successful partnership with Trump on “The Apprentice” showcased Trump Tower to millions, symbolizing determination and success right before Trump’s initial campaign from the lobby.
The show played a significant role in Trump’s surprising victory in 2016, marking one of the most significant political upsets in modern U.S. history.
On Saturday, Trump announced additional appointments for his upcoming term.
He selected David Fink, a “fifth generation railroader,” as the next administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
“Under David’s leadership, the Federal Railroad Administration will be GREAT again.”
Trump nominated casino mogul Tilman Fertitta for U.S. ambassador to Italy, pending Senate approval, and appointed Chad Mizelle as chief of staff at the Department of Justice. Mizelle previously served as general counsel and chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security during Trump’s first administration.
“Chad is a MAGA warrior, who will restore accountability, integrity, and Justice to the DOJ,” Trump stated on Truth Social.
