Trump Campaign Co-Manager Labels Lord Peter Mandelson an ‘Absolute Moron’ Following His Appointment as Starmer’s New US Ambassador | Politics News
The co-manager of Donald Trump’s presidential election campaign has referred to Lord Mandelson as an “absolute moron” following the announcement of his new role as the UK’s ambassador to the US.
The Labour veteran, who held positions in the cabinets of Sir Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, is set to take on the role as the president-elect Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House in January.
In a post on X, Chris LaCivita shared a link to a Daily Telegraph article detailing Lord Mandelson’s remarks in which he described Mr. Trump as “a danger to the world.”
The peer also labeled Mr. Trump as “little short of a white nationalist and racist” during a 2019 interview with an Italian journalist, as reported by the newspaper.
In his post on X, LaCivita commented: “This UK government is special, replacing a universally respected ambassador with an absolute moron – he should stay home! SAD!”
He further noted: “Mandelson called Trump a danger to the world and ‘little short of a white nationalist’.”
This announcement comes as Sir Keir Starmer confirmed Lord Mandelson’s appointment.
Lord Mandelson expressed, “We face challenges in Britain but also big opportunities, and it will be a privilege to work with the government to seize those opportunities for our economy and our national security, while advancing our historic alliance with the United States.”
The prime minister remarked: “The United States is one of our most important allies, and as we enter a new chapter in our friendship, Peter will bring unparalleled experience to the role and strengthen our partnership.”
Sir Keir also expressed gratitude to outgoing US ambassador Dame Karen Pierce, who is set to depart from the role at the beginning of next year.
“I would like to extend my thanks to Dame Karen Pierce for her invaluable service over the past four years, and especially for the wisdom and steadfast support she has provided me personally since July,” he stated.
“She made history as the first woman to serve as UK ambassador to the US and has been an outstanding representative of our country abroad. I wish her all the very best in her future endeavors.”
