Trump: Christians won’t need to vote again after election, refers to Harris as a ‘bum’

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump addressed a crowd of Christians, assuring them that if they vote for him in November, they won’t have to vote again as he will fix everything “so good”.

The former president, who is facing federal and state prosecution for his alleged attempts to overturn the US election result in 2020, made these remarks at an event organized by conservative group Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“Christians, get out and vote, just this time,” he said. “You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians.”

He further added, “In four years, you don’t have to vote again, we’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote.”

Trump: Harris ‘not very nice’ to Israel

US presidents are limited to two terms in office, totaling eight years. If re-elected in the upcoming vote, Mr Trump would have four more years left in the White House, having already served one term.

The intention behind Mr Trump’s comments remains unclear in an election campaign marked by accusations from his Democratic opponents of posing a threat to democracy, particularly after his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results to US President Joe Biden.

When asked for clarification, Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, explained to NBC that “President Trump was emphasizing the importance of faith, unity in the country, and prosperity for all Americans, as opposed to the divisive political climate that has caused significant division and even led to an assassination attempt.”

The race for the presidency has taken a new turn since President Biden decided not to seek re-election, making vice president Kamala Harris the likely Democratic nominee. Recent polls show a close race between Mr Trump and Ms Harris.

During his speech in West Palm Beach, Mr Trump criticized Ms Harris, calling her a “bum” and a “failed vice president” due to her handling of the southern border.

“She was a bum three weeks ago. She was a bum,” Mr Trump said, according to NBC. “A failed vice president in a failed administration, with millions of people crossing, and she was the border czar.”

Could memes win Kamala Harris the election?

A spokesperson for the Harris campaign responded to Mr Trump’s speech by noting that the former president struggled with pronunciation and sounded unappealing for a Presidential candidate.

It is clear that the political landscape leading up to the election is intense, with both sides fiercely competing for support and influence.
