Trump Directs All Federal DEI Employees to Be Placed on Leave via Memo
A memo has been issued directing agencies to place DEI employees on paid leave by 5 p.m. on January 22.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump released a memo mandating that all federal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) personnel be placed on paid leave as agencies begin the process of dismantling DEI programs.
The memo mandates that agencies must ensure DEI employees are on paid leave by 5 p.m. on January 22, along with the removal of all websites and social media accounts related to DEI initiatives by the same deadline.
Additionally, federal agencies are instructed to terminate all DEI-related training sessions and to prepare a list detailing all federal DEI offices and personnel as of November 5, 2024. The order also requires that agencies develop a plan for implementing a “reduction-in-force action” affecting those federal employees.
