Trump Establishes National Energy Council, Headed by Burgum

Donald Trump previously announced that North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum would lead the Department of the Interior.

President-elect Trump revealed a plan for a new council to enforce his broad energy policies, with Burgum as the leader. Burgum will head the National Energy Council, overseeing all aspects of American energy production and regulation to achieve U.S. Energy Dominance.

Burgum expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and achieve Energy Dominance upon the announcement. As the council chair, he will also have a place on the White House National Security Council.

Trump emphasized his intention to increase baseload power on the electrical grid to cut costs and prevent blackouts. He highlighted the importance of energy independence on the global stage.

The new role for Burgum follows Trump’s previous acknowledgment of his potential as a cabinet member. Burgum’s background as an entrepreneur and previous political endeavors align with Trump’s energy-focused initiatives.

While some analysts praised Burgum’s appointment, others criticized his close ties to the energy industry. The decision reflects Trump’s vision of energy and national security intertwined.
