Trump Nominates Brian Burch, President of CatholicVote, as Ambassador to the Vatican
“Brian is passionate about his Church and his country,” Trump stated on Truth Social. “He will make us all proud.”
President-elect Donald Trump has officially nominated Brian Burch, the president of CatholicVote, to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to The Holy See in Rome.
Referring to Burch as “a devoted Catholic,” Trump remarked, “He has earned numerous accolades and showcased outstanding leadership, successfully building one of the largest Catholic advocacy organizations in the nation.”
“Brian is passionate about his Church and his country. He will make us all proud.”
The Holy See refers to the governing authority of the Catholic Church situated in Vatican City, currently under the leadership of Pope Francis I.
Vatican City—an independent city-state nestled within Rome, Italy—serves as the heart of a faith embraced by over one billion individuals worldwide.
Burch, who is a husband and the father of nine children, accepted the nomination with gratitude, expressing thanks to his wife, children, late father, and the team at CatholicVote.org.
Founded by Burch in 2005, CatholicVote.org serves as a nonprofit advocacy group for Catholic laypeople—individuals who are not priests, nuns, or occupy any other celibate-bound role in a religious order. Its website describes it as “a community of patriotic Americans who affirm that the timeless truths of the Catholic faith benefit America.”
“We strive to inspire every Catholic in America to embody the truths of our faith in public life,” the website asserts.
Burch has been honored with the Cardinal John O’Connor Defender of the Faith Award from Legatus and the St. Juan Diego Leadership Award from The Catholic Professional Global Network.
Burch’s appointment is pending Senate approval.
The Epoch Times has contacted the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for a response regarding Trump’s nomination.
This nomination comes on the heels of President Joe Biden’s announcement about an upcoming visit to The Vatican in January before the conclusion of his term.
