Trump Officially Secures Electoral College Victory
Trump’s success was assured when he received Texas’ 40 electoral votes.
President-elect Donald Trump has officially clinched the Electoral College, thus securing the presidency on Tuesday.
Electoral votes were distributed to states based on the 2020 Census. Each state’s electoral votes align with its number of House representatives plus the two senators. The Electoral College is made up of 538 electors, with a majority of 270 necessary to win the presidency. Trump exceeded this requirement on Tuesday, officially taking 312 electoral votes, while Harris accumulated 226.
Earlier on Tuesday, the president-elect celebrated the certification of Pennsylvania’s electoral vote. Trump emerged victorious in this pivotal swing state, capturing its 19 electoral votes.
Trump successfully won all seven battleground states during the election.
On a national level, Trump also won the popular vote.
Furthermore, a Republican trifecta was achieved in the election. In addition to the presidency, Republicans will also control both the House and the Senate.
“America has given us an unprecedented mandate,” Trump proclaimed following his election victory.
Trump’s incoming administration is actively gearing up for his second term.

Kennedy Jr., whom Trump nominated for Health and Human Services secretary, and Tulsi Gabbard, his candidate for intelligence chief.
