Trump Plans Conversation with Putin on Tuesday in Bid to Cease Ukraine Conflict | US News
US President Donald Trump announced that he will hold discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, aiming to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
During a flight from Florida to Washington aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Mr. Trump shared details of the upcoming talk with reporters.
He stated: “We may have something to announce, potentially by Tuesday. I will be speaking to President Putin on that day.”
“Significant progress has been made over the weekend, and we hope to find a way to end this war.”
European allies are cautious regarding the US president’s close relationship with Mr. Putin and his firm position against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with whom Mr. Trump had a public disagreement when he met in the Oval Office last month.
Mr. Trump indicated that discussions regarding land and power plants would be part of the conversation aimed at reaching an agreement to conclude the war.
He referred to this process as “dividing up certain assets”.
