Trump recounts harrowing experience of being whisked away in golf cart following shooting at golf course
Donald Trump recounted being grabbed by Secret Service agents after hearing “four or five” gunshots during what appeared to be an assassination attempt while he was playing golf.
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon at his Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Trump described it as “quite something” but noted that it all ended well.
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, is currently facing federal gun charges after a Secret Service agent spotted a rifle in the bushes and fired at the suspect.
Trump, speaking at a social media event, recalled the sudden gunfire and praised the Secret Service for swiftly responding and ensuring their safety.
In response to heightened security concerns, the Secret Service assured Trump of the highest levels of protection.
Trump expressed his gratitude for the Secret Service’s actions and acknowledged the dangerous nature of the suspect, hoping for a lengthy imprisonment.
He also reflected on the previous assassination attempt during a rally and highlighted the positive outcome of this incident with no casualties.
Earlier discussions revealed that Trump’s golf outing was an unplanned move not communicated to the agents, which limited their security measures.
Moving forward, there are ongoing investigations into the suspect’s online activities and movements prior to his arrest.
