Trump Requests Russell Vought to Lead Budget Office for Second Term
Russell Vought, who led the Office of Management and Budget, a vital part of Trump’s agenda during his first term, is set to return to his position in the new administration.
President-elect Donald Trump announced this decision, stating that Vought is known for his cost-cutting and deregulatory efforts, which align with the administration’s America First agenda.
Vought expressed gratitude to Trump for bringing him back on board, acknowledging that there is still work to be done for the American people.
During his previous tenure, Vought played a significant role in the implementation of the Schedule F plan, a strategic move by Trump to streamline processes within executive branch agencies.
Trump emphasized Vought’s ability to combat the Deep State and restore Self Governance to the People in his statement regarding the appointment.
Vought, who is 48 years old, has a background in public policy and law, having studied at Wheaton College and George Washington University. He has held various positions within Republican circles and served as the deputy director of the OMB under Trump.
Upon leaving the White House, Vought founded the Center for Renewing America, a think tank that aims to uphold America’s unique interests and principles, as outlined in its mission statement.
Additionally, Vought authored a chapter on the Executive Office of the President for Project 2025’s “Mandate for Leadership,” highlighting the importance of aligning executive branch agencies with the president’s vision and empowering local governments and communities.
