Trump Requests Supreme Court to Lift Restrictions on Birthright Citizenship Order
Three preliminary injunctions have been granted concerning Trump’s restrictions on birthright citizenship.
President Donald Trump has requested the Supreme Court to step in and partially lift several preliminary injunctions imposed by lower courts against his executive order aimed at restricting birthright citizenship.
In a brief submitted on March 13, Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris informed Chief Justice John Roberts that the courts overstepped their bounds by issuing nationwide injunctions. She argued that the Supreme Court should confine two of these injunctions—from Washington state and Maryland—to the specific impact on individual plaintiffs. Additionally, she asserted that the injunction from New Jersey should be fully stayed, as she stated.
