Trump Rescinds Security Clearances for Additional Former and Current Officials
Security clearances for New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg have been revoked as well.
On Saturday, President Donald Trump revoked the security clearances of Antony Blinken, the former Secretary of State, and Jake Sullivan, the former National Security Adviser.
According to White House officials, the revocations also included former Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Monaco was instrumental in coordinating the Department of Justice’s response to the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol breach, as stated by White House officials. Both James and Bragg have initiated legal actions against Trump.
Consequently, Biden will no longer receive daily intelligence briefings.
Traditionally, former U.S. presidents are granted intelligence briefings to aid current presidents in matters of national security and foreign policy. However, Biden opted to revoke Trump’s access to these briefings upon taking office, referencing the January 6, 2021, events as justification.
