Trump Selects Harmeet Dhillon for Civil Rights Division at DOJ
The lawyer has been chosen by the president-elect as the assistant attorney general for civil rights at the Department of Justice.
On December 9, President-elect Donald Trump announced the appointment of attorney Harmeet Dhillon as the assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Justice via a post on Truth Social.
“In her new role at the DOJ, Harmeet will be a relentless advocate for our Constitutional Rights, ensuring that our Civil Rights and Election Laws are upheld with fairness and strength. Congratulations, Harmeet!”
The Department of Justice will be led by U.S. Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi, pending Senate confirmation.
Dhillon has clerked for the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
A graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School, Dhillon, who belongs to the Sikh community, expressed gratitude to Trump for the nomination and appreciation for her family’s support.
“Serving our great country has been my dream, and I am thrilled to join an outstanding team of attorneys led by Pam Bondi. I am eager to begin my work!” she expressed.
Trump Appoints General Counsel of the OMB
Additionally, Trump revealed another appointment, announcing Mark Paoletta’s return as General Counsel of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the forthcoming Trump administration.
Paoletta, a partner at the law firm Schaerr Jaffe and a senior fellow at the Center for Renewing America, served during the first Trump administration and supported Trump’s America First agenda. Working alongside former OMB Director Russ Vought, also asked by Trump to lead the OMB again, Paoletta was involved in securing federal funding for Trump’s border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
The president-elect also endorsed K.C. Crosbie as the prospective co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC).
Crosbie previously held the role of treasurer for the RNC and served as the national committeewoman from Kentucky.
