Trump Set to Attend Jimmy Carter’s Funeral
President-elect Donald Trump announced his intentions on New Year’s Eve.
On December 31, President-elect Donald Trump revealed that he will attend the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter.
“I’ll be there. We were invited,” Trump informed reporters at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
Although Trump has previously criticized Carter’s actions during his presidency, he paid tribute to the late Democrat following his death.
Trump noted that Carter belonged to a select group of individuals who have held the presidency and that only they “can understand the immense responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History.”
He also expressed that he and former First Lady Melania Trump are keeping the Carter family and their loved ones in their thoughts.
“We encourage everyone to keep them in their hearts and prayers,” he stated.
Following his presidency, Carter became involved in numerous humanitarian initiatives, such as Habitat for Humanity, to assist people worldwide.
Trump remarked that Carter was “very consequential, far more than most Presidents, after his time in the Oval Office.”
Carter’s wife of nearly 80 years, Rosalynn Carter, passed away in 2023.
The couple had four children: John William Carter, James Earl Carter III, Donnel Jeffrey Carter, and Amy Lynn Carter. They were also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
