Trump Set to Visit North Carolina, Nevada, and California This Weekend
Former President Donald Trump is set to visit North Carolina, California, and Nevada this week, marking his inaugural trips of his second term in office.
“We’re going to take care of Los Angeles. I’m heading to California, which has been neglected by the Democrats. First and foremost, I’m going to North Carolina. I’ll be there on Friday, and then I’ll proceed to Los Angeles, followed by a trip to Nevada,” Trump detailed to reporters.
North Carolina
Trump plans to assess the recovery efforts in the wake of last year’s severe Category 4 hurricane that severely impacted a large portion of western North Carolina and other regions of the state. Hurricane Helene also affected adjacent states including Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida.
California
Trump noted his intention to visit regions affected by wildfires that have ravaged the Los Angeles area since January 7, resulting in at least 27 fatalities and prompting the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents.
Recently, he attributed the fires to mismanagement by California Governor Gavin Newsom, alleging that Newsom refused to authorize a water declaration that would permit “millions of gallons of water” to reach various parts of the state.
In response, Newsom labeled Trump’s claims as “misinformation” and extended an invitation for the president to visit California. In 2018, they met, and both surveyed the damage from the Paradise fires together.
Nevada
Trump expressed his desire to show gratitude to his supporters in the critical state of Nevada for casting their votes for him in the 2024 election.
“I’m primarily going to Nevada to thank them for their support because we won Nevada decisively, which is typically a Democrat stronghold. I just want to express my appreciation to Nevada for the significant vote,” Trump elaborated on Tuesday.
Trump emerged victorious in all seven swing states during the 2024 election, winning both the Electoral College and the popular vote.
