Trump Unveils DOJ Task Force Aimed at ‘Eliminating Anti-Christian Bias’
The newly formed task force is part of a series of religious liberty initiatives that Trump unveiled at the National Prayer Breakfast.
On February 6, President Donald Trump proclaimed his intention to establish a Department of Justice (DOJ) task force aimed at “eliminating anti-Christian bias” within the federal government.
During one of two National Prayer Breakfast gatherings at the Washington Hilton, Trump revealed that he would soon sign an executive order appointing Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the task force.
“This task force’s mission will be to promptly stop all kinds of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government, including at the DOJ—which has been absolutely disgraceful, along with the IRS, the FBI, and other agencies,” Trump stated.
He continued by asserting that the organization would “strive to fully prosecute” acts of violence and vandalism against Christians and would “leave no stone unturned to protect the rights of Christians and religious believers across the country.”
Under the Biden administration, the Justice Department drew criticism for prosecuting peaceful pro-life activists, including many elderly individuals, under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Several of these defendants received lengthy prison sentences. Trump pardoned 23 of them shortly after taking office.
The FBI also faced backlash due to a leaked memo categorizing traditional Catholics as violent extremists, suggesting surveillance of them within their places of worship. Additionally, under the Obama administration, the IRS’s intense scrutiny of conservative groups, including Christian organizations, led to a significant scandal.

“Without religious liberty, we cannot have a free country,” Trump emphasized. “We might not even have a country.”
Alongside the task force, the president announced the creation of a new White House Faith Office, which will be overseen by Pastor Paula White, as well as a Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty.
