Trump warns Michigan crowd: Being president is more perilous than riding a bull
Donald Trump stated at his first town hall event since surviving an apparent assassination attempt that being a president is more dangerous than bull-riding.
A suspect in the potential assassination attempt against Mr Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach has been charged with two federal gun crimes.
During the town hall event in Flint, Michigan, Trump emphasized the risks that come with being the president, stating, “This is a dangerous business… being president, it’s a little dangerous.”
He compared the danger of being president to activities like race-car driving and bull-riding, asserting that the presidency is a risky endeavor.
Although Trump was unharmed in the incident, the FBI confirmed that the suspect did not fire any shots despite being a few hundred yards away from the president.
An investigation by the FBI is still in its early stages, with several questions remaining unanswered about the incident that occurred shortly after a shooting incident at a Pennsylvania rally.
Trump commended the Secret Service for their quick response, mentioning how an agent spotted a rifle a few holes ahead of him, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
He also praised a civilian who tracked the suspect and took pictures of his license plate as he fled the scene.
Trump further questioned the likelihood of such incidents occurring and mentioned receiving calls from President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris after the event.
